A Little Inspiration

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, It is between you and God;
It never was between you and them anyway.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

I have one friend who is several year younger than my but, I call her the old soul. She so reminds me of a woman my mothers age. The wise comments that come out of her mouth never cease to amaze me.

From "You don't want these kinda problems' referring basically to please dont mess with me because you wont like the end result. To 'Sometimes Joice you have to eat shit with a knife and fork and pretend you like it'. Meaning you have to suck up certain situations until your in a position to do something about it.

So back to the question posed. No I don't think I act my age but then again I am far from a wet behind the ears kid.

So I would like to say my number is 29.

Whats yours and reasons why.

I dont want to but it looks like its going that way

You dont want to what Joice?

I have been in pain for the last week and a half. Even ended up in the Emergency Room. Not a good look for a Brit in the USA. But, it got that bad that I had to go.

It started off as an ear ache and then turned into excruciating pain on the left side of my mouth and face. Suspected ear infection. Right now I would take the ear infection. Nope it ended being my damn Wisdom Teeth. Then bitches are on the move and I hurt like hell. Actually hell dont even come close.

Antibiotics and pain killers have palliated the pain. But, this morning it appears I am losing this battle. So it looks like I might be taking my butt home to get the offending teeth removed.

Now the fear kicks in because I have heard the stories about people having ribs cracked while out cold. The dentist gets carried away and lets say leans a little too hard on the patients chest.

So the toss up is should I be out cold or tough it up and go under local anesthetic?

Truth be know as the title of this blog say. I DON'T WANT TO

Precious

This past weekend I went to watch the movie 'Precious' with my friend and training partner Avard. Earlier in the week some of us in the group discussed the movie. People commented on the people who were staring Mo'Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, and Lenny Kravitz.

It was not a movie that when I saw the trailer I had a burning desire to go see. But, I'm glad I did. I found the movie disturbing and funny in some parts. There were characters that I see in my day to day activities. A couple times Avard and I looked at each other and laughed as we both recognized these people. Other times we cringed and other times we looked at each other in shock.

Precious is based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. The story is very disturbing."Precious' is a 16/17 year old high school student who is raped by her father producing two children and abused by her mother. Shes illiterate, plus sized and basically unnoticed. She enrolls in an alternative school in hope that her life can head in a new direction.

WOW!! is all I kept saying all the way through the movie. My mouth stayed open in shock and I covered my eyes several time. I think I must be a light weight or had a very sheltered life.

Mo'Nique played the hell out of the role of the most disgusting mother imaginable. I absolutely hated her thats good she was.

I came away from the movie with a reaffirmed appreciation for education and being raised by GOOD parents. Simple things i realize I take for granted like being able to read and write.

I shake my head and thank God for the life that I have.

Go watch it if you can

Quote of the day

The thing about plans is they don't take into account the unexpected, so when we're thrown a curve ball, we have to improvise. Of course, some of us are better at it than others. Some of us just have to move on to plan B and make the best of it. And sometimes what we want is exactly what we need. But sometimes, sometimes what we need is a new plan.

Quote of the day

Speak when you're angry, and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret.
- Lawrence J Peter

You Really Think This Song Is About You? Don't You?

Hanging onto resentment is letting someone you despise live rent-free in your head.
-- Ann Landers

It really does amaze me, how people are able in their own heads to elevate them selfs to positions of grandeur. How they really think they are the puppeteer in your life pulling all the strings.

Hey Joice pull a sad face. Now make a happy face. With the Pièce de résistance being. Im gonna affect your mood.

Even have the nerve to call you or pin you asking. "Are you upset with me?".

reply

"No. I just realized what an ass you are and didn't want to give you any of my time'

Well a little word to the wise. That don't work and hasn't for a very LONG time. I pride myself on being true to myself. Its so not worth allowing people to get under your skin. You might get me for a little while but trust me it won't last very long. If your real lucky I might blog about whatever it is you did to me. lol. But 9/10 times I will look through you and ignore you before I will let you get under my skin.

There is ALWAYS something a whole lot better, I can be channeling my time and energy to.

So as I continue this journey being the best Joice I can be. Surrounding myself with positive, good people. Please know I have ideals and opinions on how things should go and how I expect people to behave. I have locked off members of my own family for their improper behavior. So some random I meet along the way really don't stand a chance.

Plain and simple "This song really ain't about you'.

Now let me get up and start this wonderful new day that I have. I got my smile on and I'm ready to catch joke.

Disappoinment

Blessed is the man who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed’ Alexander Pope

People do strive to do good. But sometimes they just cant help themselves. So why oh why do we allow them to affect our day and mood when they don't come through.

Is it my fault that I desperately want people to measure up to the person they claim to be?. Or am I just the crap magnet with 'Over promise me stuff cause I like to be let down' written on my forehead. Is it unfair to hold people to a high standard? I think not.

So I beg from this point forward please "Under promise and over deliver' where I am concerned because I hate to be disappointed especially by my friends.

Tell Me Sweet Lies

Lying is bad. Or so we are told constantly from birth. Honesty is the best policy, the truth shall set you free, I chopped down the cherry tree. Whatever. The fact is, lying is a necessity. We lie to ourselves because the truth... the truth freaking hurts.

Am I a bad friend if I lie to make my friend happy? You know tell them what they want to hear. Not want to burst their high.

I think not!

I have been thinking just how many times this year I have told my friends what they wanted to hear. After i took my shoes and socks off to continue my counting I smiled. We all do it in the name of love. Apparently I have "good ears". So who am I to point out the elephant standing in the corner of the room.

So many times I have smiled, nodded and prepared my shoulder to be the ones that will be cried on.

No I'm not perfect and I am a candidate for not seeing the wood for the trees when it comes to my own life. We always see fault in others right?

So should I take the truth serum and start saying what I see and truly think. Or should I be 'Cool Joice' who just wants to see her friends happy?
