Quote Of The Moment

Don't listen to those who say, 'You're taking too big a chance.' Michelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor, and it would surely be rubbed out by today

Urrrrggh

If we don't discipline ourselves, the world will do it for us--------William Feather

The noise of the day.
I fell victim to the new false start rule today and got my ass DQ'd out of a race. Yeah yeah discipline is key.
Lesson learnt and onto the next one.

I also had a 100m indoors which I won in 11.56. New British Record indoors. So why am I not happy? Cause I wanted to run in the 60m

World Indoor Trials - Sheffield

Thursday
So I set off to the trials for World Indoors in Sheffield on Thursday.  I had to make a run to my 2nd home (the airport) first to scoop up my coach who flew in from the Stockholm track meet the night before.

We headed over to Lee Valley to put in a Pre Meet training session before the 3 hour drive up north.

The session went really well considering the day before I had been on bed rest.  I have picked up a nasty bug from Moscow. Not sure if it was the flight or the hotel.  All I know is when I was trying to practice on Tuesday I nearly passed out. Saw stars and broke out into a sweat. So tissues and Paracetamol at the ready off I headed to Sheffield.

I had cut a deal with Loren that he would do the motorway drives and I would do the city road drive. Hmmmmm bad move as we swapped seats at the service station on M1.  Imagine Loren gripping the steering wheel for dear life as he navigating getting us back on the motorway. His shoulders hunched and not rested back on the seat and me braking in the passenger seat. Hmmmmm (fun times)  lol

I am not very familiar with the streets of Sheffield so it took us as usual and extra 30mins of driving to find the hotel. (Sheffield is the land of the ring road and round about).

Friday
Today consists of pre meet warm up. So I went to the track in the morning to lift and then returned later for a warm up session on the track. Loren had a complete look of shock on his face because the allocated time for athletes to use the track was 7pm - 9pm. Loren was eager for us to get there on time I didn't understand what his urgency was, until he mentioned in the car the the track would be busy. (Oh little did he know).  There was a grand total of maybe 10 people on the track.  lol

I had my pick of all lanes.

Saturday
Good breakfast and off to the track basically.
I was not feeling my best I wont lie all Loren kept telling me is "you don't have to be at your best to be your best" The team in the call room had a good laugh at me as I constantly blew my nose and hacked up. I don't think the girls in my race were too impressed but oh well.
I won the 60m for the 6th or 7th time I actually not sure. Happy? Yes. I qualified for the 60m at the World Indoors so job done. : ).  Of course I was drug tested which took a while and had me peeing for the rest of the night as I drank far to much to provide sample.

Sunday
Could I feel any worse than yesterday the answer would be YES. I made arrangements to see the Dr after my first round in the 200m. I won my heat in 23.81 but was having problems breathing. It was like I was unable to catch my next breath.  The Dr gave me some antibiotics which I was to start taking at the end of the competition.

Moscow-Russian Winter

So I set out for Moscow early Thursday morning. Nothing to eventful happened other than as usual I was over my luggage allowance. Nothing that a dumb look and a smile couldn't fix.  I packed the extra food goodies I know I will need for this trip.  Trust me my bag is not filled with cute clothes. I plan on leaving hotel a total of 4 times 2 for pre meet practice/warm up, once for the competition and once to head to the airport.

So I land and my breath is taken away bt how cold it is. I pin my friend to tell him and he makes me out to be dumb with his reply. 'Joicey your in Russian and it is winter what the hell you expect'. Yeah yeah he got me. Lol

Standing in the baggage collection place you would have thought Moscow had a new Panda at the Zoo the way people were starring.  I could have sworn I flew with some of these people from London. Yeah I'm the only black person in the whole building it would appear.

Walter Davies words of encouragement 'Be Careful'.' Like wow Walter didn't think of that.'  Lol.  So basically I had decided if after I collect my bag and clear customs unless there is a guy with a board with my name spelt correctly waiting for me I will be sleeping in the airport waiting for Walter to arrive tomorrow.  Lol

The airport considering its an international airport is so primitive.  You have to wait for the carousel to be announced to collect your bags.  Hmmmm

He has a sign should I go with him?  Lol

So I sit in the airport for an hour waiting for Jenny Medows.  Not much to do in Moscow airport but eat pistachio nuts and people watch and boy where there some sights.  PETA would be up in arms at the amount of fur I have seen in this airport.

The hotel hmmmm wow!  does not do it justice when it comes to my thoughts and thats not wow in a good way. Its the same hotel we stayed at for the 2006 World Indoors.  Nearly 7000 rooms, 25 floors, bars, restaurants and to top it off a strip club and bowling alley in the basement. Yeah go figure.  Lol

The hotel does not sleep.  This is the same hotel we stayed at for the World Indoors in 2006.  It really has not changed in 4 years and back then it looked like a throw back from a 1970s movie.

I'm sharing with Jenny Meadows. Who's a damn good laugh and made this trip a good giggle.  I can't count how many times we gave each other the WTF look.  Lol

Saturday

Today consisted of pre meet warm up and a lot of hanging around. It was way too cold to go outside and do anything else.

The room was blazing hot even with the window open. Struggled a little bit with this cold that's trying to take over my nostrils.  We woke up dry (dry eyes and throat).

Sunday - Race day
Ok I'm gonna make this quick unlike my race. It was crap and I couldn't tell you what happened. 7.41 5th in my heat didn't make the final. And moving on.

Blue Ass Fly

So I have been running around London like a blue ass fly sorting out my visa so I can race in Moscow this weekend.

I rode the tube train which is something I never relish. People arrrrrrrrrrgh.   lol

Navigating the new system for a Russian visa was a chore to say the least. Fill out this form, copy down this reference number, bring your confirmed flight details( erm I don't have a visa so why would I be confirming a flight?  just asking like),  bring your bank statement for the last 3 months, whats your inside leg measurement (ok I added the last one) but you get the gist.

Well visa got and I will be headed back to my second London home (the airport) real soon.

I did have a little hick up at the visa office but that was my own fault. Trying to be slick and killing time I took my number and decided to pin a friend who I knew would entertain me during the wait. Tasha Danvers.  Now when me an her get going its a riot. Well we were having so much fun that I missed my ticket being called. So had to get another and basically added another 30 mins onto my wait.  lol

Pictures and stories for this trip I am sure to have.
