So I set out for Moscow early Thursday morning. Nothing to eventful happened other than as usual I was over my luggage allowance. Nothing that a dumb look and a smile couldn't fix. I packed the extra food goodies I know I will need for this trip. Trust me my bag is not filled with cute clothes. I plan on leaving hotel a total of 4 times 2 for pre meet practice/warm up, once for the competition and once to head to the airport.
So I land and my breath is taken away bt how cold it is. I pin my friend to tell him and he makes me out to be dumb with his reply. 'Joicey your in Russian and it is winter what the hell you expect'. Yeah yeah he got me. Lol
Standing in the baggage collection place you would have thought Moscow had a new Panda at the Zoo the way people were starring. I could have sworn I flew with some of these people from London. Yeah I'm the only black person in the whole building it would appear.
Walter Davies words of encouragement 'Be Careful'.' Like wow Walter didn't think of that.' Lol. So basically I had decided if after I collect my bag and clear customs unless there is a guy with a board with my name spelt correctly waiting for me I will be sleeping in the airport waiting for Walter to arrive tomorrow. Lol
The airport considering its an international airport is so primitive. You have to wait for the carousel to be announced to collect your bags. Hmmmm
He has a sign should I go with him? Lol
So I sit in the airport for an hour waiting for Jenny Medows. Not much to do in Moscow airport but eat pistachio nuts and people watch and boy where there some sights. PETA would be up in arms at the amount of fur I have seen in this airport.
The hotel hmmmm wow! does not do it justice when it comes to my thoughts and thats not wow in a good way. Its the same hotel we stayed at for the 2006 World Indoors. Nearly 7000 rooms, 25 floors, bars, restaurants and to top it off a strip club and bowling alley in the basement. Yeah go figure. Lol
The hotel does not sleep. This is the same hotel we stayed at for the World Indoors in 2006. It really has not changed in 4 years and back then it looked like a throw back from a 1970s movie.
I'm sharing with Jenny Meadows. Who's a damn good laugh and made this trip a good giggle. I can't count how many times we gave each other the WTF look. Lol
Today consisted of pre meet warm up and a lot of hanging around. It was way too cold to go outside and do anything else.
The room was blazing hot even with the window open. Struggled a little bit with this cold that's trying to take over my nostrils. We woke up dry (dry eyes and throat).
Sunday - Race day
Ok I'm gonna make this quick unlike my race. It was crap and I couldn't tell you what happened. 7.41 5th in my heat didn't make the final. And moving on.
