I received my first nasty gram comment on my blog today. It was posted by an ever so brave person called "Anonymous." Lol. Here's what they had to say as it was sent to me:
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Chasing the Sun": "Would love to know how you keeping paying for avoiding moving on from the sport and getting a real job. You are one of those who just can't quit even though their better days are behind you. Our government better not be funding you. So many young Brits deserve support. Time for you to get real." My response:
None of your damn business.
Get a life and I hope you continue to enjoy watching me run for however much longer I choose. Stop hatin'.
It's funny, I needed something to fuel the fires and I think I just got it. Thanks Anonymous.
Here's a timely and relevant quote from comedian Katt Williams:
"Live your life. Get your hustle on. Understand people are gonna hate you regardless. Get that out of your head, that fantasy world where people ain't hating on you. You gotta be grateful. You need haters. What are you complaining about? What do you think a hater's job is? To hate! So let them do their damn job. Ladies, if you've got 14 women hating on you, you need to figure out how the hell to get to 16 before the summer gets here. Fellas, if you've got 20 haters, you need 40 of them. What are you complaining about? If there are any haters in here right now that don't have anybody to hate on, feel free to hate on me."
Why even waste your time giving them what they want from you. The last thing you should do is dignify them with a response.

It's sad that people have nothing better to do with their time than leave anonymous comments and TRY to tear someone down. You know you're doing something right when they are hating on you :-) be blessed.........
ReplyDeleteThat person probably couldnt even run a mile without having a heart attack. Yes, you maybe in the later part of your career, but us athletics fans still have faith. Not many people have european silver medals, and you are the most successful british athlete in terms of AAA titles.
ReplyDeleteJoice you are one of Britain's sporting icons and it amuses me to read the tossagram 'anonymous' sent you - it's probably his first published work, so i suppose you should feel honoured...has he ever heard of Merlene Ottey, does he think we should all die from acne in our teens?
ReplyDeleteTechnically you are still developing as an athlete, as you have yourself recognised, you are in great physical shape and receiving perhaps the best coaching of your career(even though most athletes would be envious of your pedigree to date) - so what's to talk about? Just keep on doing what you're doing girl...
