So The Season Is Coming To An End

I'm not going to bore you with a review of the season.
All I know is I am happy because this time last year I was injured in my eye beyond repair. I have rehabbed and worked on rebuilding and strengthening muscles.

I more than anything am looking forward to headed back to Atlanta to start preparing for next season. Which means 'Yes' I will be competing next year. I have a couple more races and then head back.

I have been thinking about all the things I have missed about Atlanta whilst being here this summer

3. My training partners that I have not seen for some 4 months


4. And finally just being in Atlanta I really like training there.

My body appears to be being kind to me at the moment.

Self healing is what I'm calling it. The mere fact that I decided to take some time off and chill has paid dividends.

But its about time I jump on an exercise bike and do something with my butt. Before it starts to spread. lol

So I did not make the team

I was a little down and then today I read a quote by 'Randy Pausch'

Then I looked him up and now I ask you to take the time to watch this You Tube Lecture. Yeah its 76 mins and you claim not to have the time. It might just change your life like it did mine.

I have a couple days off from practice as we have been on it hard this week.

Why is it that we allow others to affect our moods?


Those people who know me really well, will tell you that I can’t stand to have my slept disturbed with thoughts of other people and their actions. Be it good or bad Joice loves her sleep.

So for me to be up blogging at this hour means I must be pissed off. Lol

I have always prided myself on being true to my word. Really, if I don’t want to do something I won’t. The line ‘I don’t want to’ comes out of my mouth a lot, and honestly? I don’t care what others think. I know I have not promised anything so don’t expect anything from me.

There are so many cliché lines that spring to mind

‘Treat people how you want them to treat you’

‘A person’s plate is never full if they are interested in something’

‘A person’s word is their bond’

The one line that springs to mind today is a line that an ex boyfriend ALWAYS used to drop on me ‘If you don’t like it you know what to do’. Yes he’s an ex so I did do what I needed to do eventually. Lol

Since my little episode with him, I have adapted his signature line to ‘If you don’t like it there is always something you can do’ lol

So a word to the wise people who cross Joice’s path and wish to be her friend.

Don’t promise to do something and then let her down. It irks her more than you will ever know. Because, her word is her bond she expects the same of you.

So vent over lets see if I can get some sleep. Lol

Through the eyes of the coach

I firstly must apologise for my short sharp blog yesterday. Frustration is a beast. But, in good old Joice style, I have marinaded it and now continue forward. If anything I was just upset with myself for putting my foot down the pot hole. Jack, has come the conclusion that I am clumsy. Which is something that I really need to work on. There have been too many incidents where I have tripped, fell and walked into things. Bruising and constantly needing ice.

I applied caution yesterday and took the day off practice. The Dr was not in the office yesterday, also had something to do with it. So all I could get was a massage, which was needed. Plus ultra sound on my ankle and knee.

So yesterday I was the coaches apprentice so to speak. I sat in the stands and saw what he saw. It was actually really good for me. I watched the guys running flying 30's. Lets just say there are many ways to skin a cat. I was able to question Brooks and pretty much had a 1:1 visual training session with him.

So there you have it. Always find a positive in every negative.

I'm going back to the Dr's office now as I am her first appointment this morning. I have practice later on this evening so need to get checked out.

3 Days off

So I have got through this week of practice. It's been interesting and has made me look deep inside myself. Which, actually is not a bad thing.

I thought it best to add an additional blog today, so my friends and family will stop calling, texting and blackberry pinning to make sure I'm ok.

I woke up this morning in a very strange mood. Wanting to talk to my mum, who I was unable to find all day. So I left a whinging I miss you message on the answer machine. Not pretty and I'm sure shes still in a panic cause Joice don't do that. Serve her right for not being in when I called. lol.

Home sickness is the diagnosis from my sister. Why? Probably because I felt like I had missed out on my brothers 40th birthday dinner with my family and his night out last night to the Progressive Entertainment night. Yeah, I can be pretty spoilt when I'm ready.

If I had my way I would have layed in the bed all day and sulked. But, come on now how was I going to explain that one away to Brooks. Just imagine the email because there is no way I would have called. lol

'Hi Brooks, Not coming to practice today because I don't feel like it. I need a hug from my mum. See you tomorrow Joice'

I did lay in the bed for most of the day feeling sorry for myself until I called my sister and had a conversation with my soon to be 3 year old Nephew. Be ready for that blog cause it will be another family event I will miss. All in the name of the Olympic Games. lol. He spat 3 of 4 sentances at me finishing with a kiss blown down the phone. Obviously far to busy to talk to me as he wanted to go out in the snow. Yeah snow in England Easter weekend. Ain't this supposed to be spring? Another reason why I should be happy that I'm in Orlando and not at home.

Practice was not what was scheduled as it was too cold at 70° to do speed work. Yeah for real. So I had 12 x 150's followed by weight room. Actually one of my nicer sessions.

So what have I learnt about Joice today? Hmmmmmm that I can be a girlie girl. That I just need to be left alone when I get like this and that I'm doing what I choose to do which so happens to be something that I love so. 'Suck it up Joice'

I hope and pray I don't have another one of these days soon cause they really ain't pretty. I don't like it when I get like that.

In my defence I was missing my family. Ain't no shame in that.

So I'm calling it a night going to bed and hoping to wake up tomorrow with a new brighter attitude. After all I could be at home in the snow.

P.S Jack sorry for today that Joice does not appear often but hey at least she was quiet. It takes alot to shut me up. Am I forgiven?
