The Eyes Are The Window To The Soul
Quote Of The Moment
Don't listen to those who say, 'You're taking too big a chance.' Michelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor, and it would surely be rubbed out by today

Ahhh! Now I understand...
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you feel your performance wasn't good enough? More importantly, do you feel you will get it right in 2012... I'm sure you'll give it your best shot.
Graham
Then here's hoping for an excellent 2012 for you!
ReplyDeleteIn your home town.

Graham - The times I ran where shit. Long and short of it. lol
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your 2nd question you gotta be in it to give it a try.
Dx - Thanks
At times I agree, you may have taken a lot out of a shallow-ish well and still done quite well internationally, but not excelled. You just went with your talent and enjoyed racing!
ReplyDeleteYour preparation, use of rest, racing strategy, and finishing over 200m seem to be a lot better focussed now than in 08/09. However, improving through the season in both events, nailing those times especially before and after the trials in late July, early August was a real challenge in 2008-10. Why? How can this get better? In 2012 you will have to improve throughout the season!
My advice for 2011 is to use super fast venues like Geneve, La Chaux aux Fonds, maybe a German venue and nail those times!
Don't double unless you feel you want to.
Be realistic, which event do you feel you have the best chance of doing a qualifier twice in?
Don't race into big headwinds, this is a waste.
Race your UK counterparts often,as it brings the best out of you!
Keep up some strength training into the season as you have sometimes lacked the strength to improve through the rounds in 200m events.
Work on your concentration, start and pick up and relaxation over 100m. Sometimes you are giving fields 2m at the beginning. Why? How can you improve this?
I wish you all the best. I hope you enjoy your season and get to the Worlds.
I dont know, 2004 was the past. For 2012 you must improve through the season even into late July and August.
ReplyDeleteYou need to a minimum of two qualifiers in each event. Perhaps more if you get to a championships. Is that possible?
You currently seem to be motivated and focussed and your racing strategy is much better thought out than before.
However are you going to hit those times?
I would be clever about the venues. Use quick venues like Geneve, La Chaux de Fonds, maybe a minor American or German meet and go full out and hit a qualifier. You are well capable of going under 23.20. I am not sure about sub 11.30 but you could surprise. Once you have done this then you will know how to repeat it.
Go back to basics with your 100m start, pick up and middle. You are giving away 2m to fields at times. This could be much more consistent.
Dont do non races where you race into strong headwinds or do mammoth double or triple races unless you are doing it for a reason.
Think about rest and strength training in the season as you have had issues keeping and building on your peak recently.
I wish you all the best.
